Many people do not know that there is a benefit/pension that can help pay for Talem’s home care services.  This benefit is a monthly VA pension for qualified veterans and/or their surviving spouses through the Veterans Administration.  If you need any help with daily living activities (like bathing, feeding, dressing, etc) or you’re homebound, you might qualify.  This benefit is called VA Aid and Attendance.

What is the Veterans Community Care Network?

Community Care Network

The VA Community Care Network (CCN) is VA’s direct link with community providers to ensure Veterans receive timely, high-quality care. CCN uses industry-standard approaches and guidelines to administer, promptly pay for services and manage the network to its full potential.

Regional Networks

CCN is comprised of five regional networks that serve as the contract vehicle for VA to purchase care for Veterans from community providers.

Which health care services may be obtained through CCN?

CCN offers a wide range of healthcare services encompassing medical, behavioral health, surgical, dental, and complementary and integrative health services (CIHS). Within CIHS, individuals can access biofeedback, hypnotherapy, massage therapy, Native American healing, relaxation techniques, and tai chi. Moreover, CCN provides additional services such as dialysis, comprehensive rehabilitation, residential care, home health care, hospice care, dental care, immunizations, and long-term acute care. Immediate requirements for durable medical equipment (DME) and prescription medications (with a maximum of 14-day supply) can also be fulfilled. To use these services through CCN, veterans must obtain authorization from the VA.

What are CCN third-party administrators?

Third-party administrators develop and administer the five regional networks that make up CCN. Optum Public Sector Solutions, Inc. (Optum), part of UnitedHealth Group, Inc., manages CCN Regions 1, 2, and 3. TriWest Health Care Alliance (TriWest) manages CCN Regions 4 and 5.

Home Care Options For Veterans

The VA Aid and Attendance Pension Benefit can help veterans and their families access home care services that provide essential support. Exploring these options is a crucial step in the process of qualifying for and using this pension benefit.

Veterans and their families need to understand what type of home care services are available, how much they cost, and how they can be paid for before making a decision. With so many different types of home care services, it can be difficult to decide which one is right for you or your loved one.

Selecting A Home Care Provider For A Veteran

When it comes to selecting a home care provider, it is crucial to keep the following points in mind:

  • Investigate the agency’s reputation: Take the time to thoroughly research the background of any potential provider. Look for any feedback, complaints, or reviews online, and reach out to individuals who have previously utilized their services.
  • Assess experience and qualifications: Seek out providers who possess a wealth of experience in delivering personalized care to veterans. Ensure that they hold the necessary certifications and qualifications to guarantee the provision of high-quality care.

By taking these factors into consideration, veterans can confidently choose a home care provider who is both experienced and qualified, tailored to their specific needs, all while considering their financial circumstances. Being well-informed about their decision will provide them with peace of mind, knowing they have made the best possible choice for themselves or their loved ones.
