Father’s Day looks a little different for everyone. For a lot of us, the person we’re honoring isn’t a dad at all—it’s a grandparent.
They were the ones at the school plays, cooking Saturday morning breakfasts, and answering the late-night phone calls. Grandparents so often step into a parenting role so naturally that it almost goes unacknowledged, and I think Father’s Day is a great moment to do just that.
That’s something we see reflected in the work we do every day in home care. Grandparents who are still the gravitational center of their families, still the ones everyone calls first, still the ones keeping traditions alive, still the ones who show up. It’s a kind of love that doesn’t retire.
This Father’s Day, we want to honor all of the father figures out there: the ones who raised us, the ones we’re now privileged to care for, and the ones whose influence we carry with us into this work.
To our clients, caregivers, and partners, thank you for honoring the full picture of family in everything you do. This month, we hope you get a chance to celebrate the father figures in your lives, in whatever form they take.
