For Faith, Senior Care Advocate & Community Ambassador, that place has been Talem Milwaukee. At the center of that culture is VP of Operations Candice “Candy” Schmunk, affectionately known around the office as “Mama Talem.”

We joke that Candy is “Mama Talem” because of the way she takes everyone under her wing and gives them the support and encouragement they need to thrive. She celebrates every win, gives people space to make mistakes, answers her phone at any time of day, and ends every call with, “Love you, bye.”

It’s the kind of leadership that creates more than a workplace. It creates connection, belonging, and a sense of home for the people around her.

On days like Mother’s Day, when it can be hard not to notice what’s missing, Faith says she feels especially grateful for the little family she’s collected along the way.

Because family is not always about biology.
